As we progress into the new economic era, the certainties of the established global order are visibly breaking down, with a growing geopolitical and macro disconnect between countries and increasingly hard-to-predict divergence within markets and asset classes. An opportune time, we think, to take stock and explore what it all means for investors.

There is an urgent need for more investment in overstretched or decaying infrastructure to meet the growing demand for power fuelled by the energy transition, the AI revolution and the need for greater self-sufficiency. Already, this has prompted a ramping up of planned investment across the world, be it to support the energy provision of data centres in the US or, closer to home, Germany's ambitious investment programme. And we expect there is much more to come. We believe infrastructure has the potential to provide investors with diversification to broad equity markets, as well as an attractive long-term return opportunity. In this session, we explore how to build balanced long-term exposure to this structural trend.
Sascha Hasterok
While the long-term case for private equity remains sound, several segments show signs of potential overcrowding, with a growing bifurcation between winners and losers. In combination with reduced liquidity, it creates a favourable environment for investors with dry capital and the expertise, resources and networks to identify potential long-term winners. Late-stage growth stands out as an area of particular interest as companies increasingly choose to stay private for longer, creating significant additional value in the process. We believe a well-structured allocation can enhance traditional small cap exposures. We discuss what that entails in practice, from identifying suitable key performance indicators to making the most of new structures than can help mitigate liquidity constraints.

In day's new economic era, with its inherently higher levels of volatility and divergence, hedge funds offer significant potential for diversification and alpha generation. However, the sheer breadth of hedge fund strategies now available, coupled with significant performance dispersion, can make it challenging to optimise their potential within portfolios. We share insights into hedge fund selection, update on the latest industry developments that we think investors should pay attention to and identify promising strategies to help achieve return and diversification objectives.
